Before we launch into the new school year, we wanted to take just a minute to tip our hat to those folks who were instrumental in helping DSW make it through what has turned out to be our busiest summer ever – as well as assisting us in shepherding the launches of some of the most impressive Gryphon sites we’ve seen to date.
Designer/developers Ryan McBride and Patrick Wellever deserve a big hand for their roles in summertime launches, as do their student counterparts at several newspapers; We’d like to pass along special thanks (and our general admiration) to the University of Michigan-Flint’s Kevin C, the University of Pennsylvania’s Kyle H. and Jared M., Andrew S. at the U of Arizona’s Daily Wildcat, as well as Adam A. at Colorado State.
On the admin side we’d like to thank Otterbein U’s Hillary W., Eric J. at the DP, Faith and Hagan at the Wildcat, Lacee and Dr. Lewis up in Flint, and Jenny and Larry at Colorado State’s Collegian. To the GMs and administrators at our existing Gryphon and Fotobroker sites, who chimed in with timely advice and a little necessary criticism… thank you so much.
Unsung heroes of the summer include the Philadelphia contingent of the TSA (really), who were alert and professional, and yet somehow still sincerely concerned & attentive in the face of pre-Hurricane Irene airport crush and chaos. Also, the US Airways staff at Detroit Metro, who were unperturbed by at least one tardy tech who got on the plane with 30 seconds to spare. Thanks to Detroit Energy, too, who has now turned the power back on in Detroit following our holiday storm. Well, at least it’s on right now.
I would be remiss if I left out Lee’s Hoagie House in Philadelphia – because you can live on these sandwiches alone (we can prove it too – we have receipts). And of course, we remain appropriately grateful for coffee, BBEdit and Altoids, which make Gryphon possible.
Our final – and most important – thank you of the summer goes to the development crew and admin staff of The State News at Michigan State U, the home of Gryphon – and especially GM Marty S. and programmer Mike Joseph, who together started the ball rolling and have developed an equally fine touch for adding sufficient mass to maintain the momentum. We love you both, in the everyday, everyday, everyday ways, as well as the big picture ways ;)
If I’ve forgotten someone, it wasn’t intentional. In some cases, like with the Philly taxi drivers, I just don’t have the words. (which in this case, is perhaps for the best). Thanks all & best of luck with this new fall term. Wishing you calm waters and solid ad revenue.
